Life and Times of Dana

I hope everyone is having a Happy Thanksgiving.

I went out last night with my Aunt, Uncle and Mother for dinner at a restaurant and Saturday I'll have dinner at a hall with the rest of the family.

I have been working on a tribute to Veterans on my other website and carried it to extremes (as I normally do), creating 4 webpages for the American Vet and the Canadian Vet as well as the Tribute page.

I can't remember a time when the American flag has not flown in front of our house. My Father and his Brother were both wounded in WWII, both of them receiving two purple hearts and they were proud to have served. My family has served in every war since the late 1700's.

So many of my friends died in Viet Nam or as a direct result of it and now my present friends have kids in Iraq or Afghanistan, and many had kids in the Gulf War. It was time that I did something like this.

Had a very nice weekend with my fiance'. I hated taking her to the airport yesterday though. I always do. Nothing depresses me more than to have only a couple of days with her and then to have her go back home.

I'm very thankful for the time I have with her, but at the same time I don't like it that we only have those few days.

Well back to the business at hand. I have a lot of work ahead of me this week. I have to clear out the warehouse, find new storage and continue packing my things for the move to Canada. Hopefully I should hear something within the next couple of weeks about my residency permit.

Today should be interesting. I have to call my business partner and find out what HE wants then call my nephew and find out why he would call me at 11 at night. I don't answer the phone after 8 PM.

Gotta get this place straightened up today. I have a livingroom and dining room full of computer parts from closing down the warehouse this week. Since my fiance' is coming in tomorrow morning I don't need to have the house full of parts.

Its going to be a long day. Especially since the dog likes to help. LOL

It's the beginning of a new week and a lot hes happened since I last posted.

One of my small businesses is going under. Better to get out now than wait til it drains me completely. So at the end of this month I'll shut it down.

I'm going to write a letter to the consulate today. I want to find out how the process for my TRP is going. With any kind of luck at all I should be in Quebec for Christmas and with my new family.

My fiance is flying in this Friday for 2 days and I'll be sooooo happy to see her again. I haven't seen her since last month. Our phone bills are getting outrageous, even though we also use messengers to talk. This whole thing is starting to wear on both of us. Her up in Quebec and me down here and my past keeping us apart.

Well this is life. Guess I'll just have to live it one day at a time.

Went to the Canadian Consulate yesterday. An hour and a half drive there. Two minutes while there and an hour and a half back. Worst part is they won't tell you anything while you are there and they don't tell you anything over the phone. I did find thatthere is a possibility of me trcking my file through their website. I now have a file number to track.

I really hate dealing with government clerks. You get the worst kind of advice and information. Mostly wrong.

I've spent the last two days working on my other website. I seem to get lost in HTML whenever I get started. LOL

I received my other papers for the Canadian Consulate on Friday so now I can go there on Monday and turn them in. I'm hoping to be in Canada by Christmas, but God only knows if that will happen.

I sure do miss being with my fiance' and her kids. At least she is coming to visit in a couple of weeks. That's something.

I hope to have a new links page up here on this website to some recovery sites, but in the meantime, there are a few on the family health page on my other website, for those that are interested.

I thought I was going to take it easy today since I didn't have any running to do. I was just going to rest and wait for the mail.
Instead I worked on my other website all day while waiting for the mail. I spent close to 12 hours on it reformatting the way I link to the games on my site. and then having to redo every gamepage that I have on the site.

Anyway, I didn't get the letter from my former employer today so maybe I'll get it tomorrow.

Today shouldn't be as hectic as yesterday.

I spent yesterday running around to four different courthouses picking up certified copies of legal papers for Canadian immigration. That was a real treat going through four different metal detectors amd security check points. I spent more time going through security than I did going through the lines at the clerks offices.

Today I get to copy all of them for my records, just in case. I'm waiting on one more paper from my former employer stating that I am retired. I should have that by Thursday and then on Friday head back to the consulate. Hopefully That will be the last of the papers that I need for my temporary residency.

I have only one computer to go work on this morning and three more to work on here at home to get started on.

So now it's off to the salt mines. At least it's a salt mine that I made.

whewww what a day yesterday was.
It started with what seemed like making a thousand phone calls to places that I need to get more info from for my temporary residency permit for Canada. Then off to do what was supposed to be a simple little computer job. That job turned into 5 hours or a little more just doing some simple cleanup jobs and tweaking.

Now, today I have some more running to do to pick up whatever documents that I need for the immigration people at the consulate.

I'm hoping that I get back early enough to do some work on my other website.

I still can't update my other webpages or my other blog. I went over to the office yesterday and talked with my webhost though and found out that they are installing a new server so it should be up and running by monday sometime. Thats what happens though when you get a small town local provider. It's a goood thing that I believe in supporting local merchants.

My fiances computer blew up this last week and she got it back up and running today. Now we can talk again without running up huge phone bills.

I feel sort of lazy today so I'm not going to do much today although I did do some work on a CD that I'm putting together for beginner webmasters.
I'm doing all the lessons using HTML and it takes some time to write them and then verify them.
